Ok, so I just had one of those moments where I open an email and Glenn Beck's email address was in the Too: line. There were only about twenty people listed and so it took me back a little bit.
Of course, this has happened before because famous people are, after all, people. At work I sometimes get email that has the Under Secretary of Defense (or someone like that copied) on it. And, the email is just to me and three or four people. I hit the reply button, but not to all. There are good and bad things about being copied on these sorts of emails. I would venture to guess - mostly bad. It most likely means an error of some kind has occurred.
Anyway, it's these moments where I realize that the famous have friends and read emails too...or at least have a friend that reads their email for them.

I had a semi-famous person accidentally email me. He was one of my professors in grad school (OK -- so he's famous in the political media world and to anyone who watches NBC news), so I was in his personal data base. I wasn't quite sure if I should respond or not because it was about an important upcoming meeting.
I finally wrote back and said, "I think you meant to send this to a different Pam. But if you're interested in offering ME a job, I'd love that."
He responded immediately with an apology -- he sent the email to me by mistake. But thanked me for letting him know.
well, hopefully that happens again and he actually inquires after your skills and an opportunity comes about. i actually had something like that happen. ok, but no famous people were involved.
