President's Challenge

A few weeks ago I joined the President's Challenge at work. We get paid for three hours of exercise each week. I don't typically get around to doing much exercise at work, but I've been able to count a few little walks to the post office on a time code during this time (two months) instead of assuming it is a break.

Remember doing this in grade school? I remember because I didn't quite get the award one year, but I worked to get it in the 6th grade. Somewhere on my computer I have my certificate for the "Presidential Physical Fitness Award." If I remember correctly, the hardest part was doing the chin ups on that really high bar.

Anyway, the three weeks I've been in this program, I've exercised almost everyday. You can log in and keep track of your points and work toward a bronze, silver or gold award. Right now I'm working toward the bronze. Then, you can send away to get the Presidential certificate.

There are so many gadgets on the web to track exercise and such, but figured this resource was good as any and if you feel you ever missed out on accomplishing the award when you were young...this is a chance to redeem yourself.

Ok, I just had to share this shot. I still remember this day.
This was when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade in Nebraska. Yep, I'm the girl coming from behind in the bell bottoms and the Dorthy Hamel haircut. I actually ended up coming in 2nd for that 5o yard dash. If I hadn't been lugging all that extra denim around I probably would have surpassed them all. Grade school was actually the last point in my life where I enjoyed running, but now I'm making a comeback.

This is excellent! HOw did you come to have it? Did your teacher take it? your mom? I laughed so hard at your bell bottoms, but the whole ensemble was just classic. The watch really is something I'd be proud of. I wanted one badly at that age and didn't have one.
