Not going private

So, I've noticed a lot of people going private on their blogs lately. I realize that this is important for some, especially if they want to show, and name, their children.

It is a little sad for me because somehow I can either never log in to see their site or their site falls to the bottom of my blog roll and I never quite get to it. It is a shame because they are probably writing some good stuff.

Alas, these are the choices we have to make when utilizing web 2.0 technology, aye?

Of course, I have my little list of secret blogs myself, but that is because I do need a private place to rant when things tick me off during certain parts of the day. Ha. It is a form of detox. Even so, I try to write as if someone from work will discover it. You can never be too comfortable.

For now, I'm out here on this particular blog and plan to remain that way for a while. I'm hoping that some of you will be too.

What's in a comment?

I've been looking at a lot of blogs lately and I can't figure this out.

What makes people "post a comment" for some entries and not for others? There are some blogs that have amazing information and no one comments while others will write a seemingly basic entry and all kinds of comments show up. I haven't found the relationship between the two yet and it's not important to my personal blog.But, I would like to know since I have started a wiki and will be starting a blog at work for some of the information our department.

Perhaps I'll make a little study to see if it has to do with the person who wrote it, how personal the entry is, how interesting the topic appears or if it just has to do with the moods of people reading the entries.

Any thoughts? (Ha, maybe this the key - asking for something in the last line)

Next Blog

Tonight I decided to hit the "Next Blog" button at the top of the screen.

I should probably do this more often. Other times I've made the daring click I've come across all kinds of bloggers in other countries. It's pretty cool to read Chinese or Arabic blogs. The font seems so...I don't know...unique and artistic compared to English. It's all in the viewpoint I'm sure.

Why am I up reading blogs?

I just took a shower and instead of going to bed, I had to have one last book at Facebook and one last look at my OWN blog. Yes, my own blog. This is where I see who has updated their blog by looking at my blog roll. So, here I am navigating from blogs I know to links on their blogs of people that I don't know and it's 10:19 p.m. I'm trying to make a goal to go to bed by at least 10:15 p.m. since I'm commuting at 5:45 a.m. everyday, but still haven't gotten to bed that early.

It's 10:20 p.m. Signing off now. Well, one quick look at Facebook and then at 10:22 p.m. I will hit the pillow. If only I felt this way about my work.
