Yea!
The iPhone is not broken! Now that I know the "reset" secret that requires that I push down two buttons indefinitely, it is fixed. Kudos to the AT&T store little guy that was patient and kind making me NOT feel like an idiot for not consulting my manual for advice.
$0 spent on fixing it. All cleaning will now take place with the cover on the phone!
Don't we all wish we could just hit two little buttons to reset our lives?

Ode to the iPhone

One foot below
the laptop stood sturdy
My hand
not so much
my phone a little dirty
In hopes of a cleaning
the iPhone was bare
As I took off the case
to swipe it with care
Fingers come open
phone falls below
Right on the corner
Of laptop below
Little knick in it's back
Thought all was ok
Touch screen was frozen
phone called it a day
Yes, I'll go to the store
to see what can be done
But, I've been through this before
And it is not fun
More money, more signing
More agreements and cords
All of these gadgets
are making me poor
Ode to my iPhone
gadgets and apps
Will I settle for a cheap phone
Or have a relapse?
....
OK, I'm done trying to make it all cute. Off I go to see if I can actually get this all fixed up for a reasonable price.
Something is wrong with me. First the Blackberry and now the iPhone all in a six month period. The cheap stuff is looking really good right now.

Ode to the Blackberry

Oh, ode to the Blackberry,
all black and worn,
you were my friend,
though my thumbs are all torn
You woke me up daily,
at 5:00 a.m. sharp,
for almost three years,
your screen glowed in the dark
Your keyboard, magnificent,
it came with real keys,
nifty little ear piece,
so to drive with great ease
From carpool, to office,
to home and on travel,
used mostly for email,
very little babble
Alas, and a lack,
you were there by my side,
to your last day,
when you crashed by my ride
With your screen all a shatter,
and scratches and bangs,
it's unfortunate, yes,
but, it's time for a change
Oh, ode to my Blackberry,
I've left you alone,
Now I've had to move on,
to my...dare I say it, iPHONE!
