Alone Time
Is it because I'm older and am used to a little space? Or, just anxious to take full advantage of the time we have together now?
Before, he'd leave at night and I'd stay up really late reading, getting on the computer, and catching up on emails.
Now, some of those things seem to have fallen by the wayside as I figure all of this out.
For about 8-9 hours a day I am interrupted at least every 15 minutes. It is a good thing I enjoy the people because I never get to fully concentrate. Now I don't get that at home either.
So, here's to those little moments in the car on the days I drive to/from work where I can pray, listen to music and books, and think a little bit.
Oh, I'm not complaining. More like realizing that I am entering a new phase of prioritizing and planning in different ways.
...at least I've hauled off a few more things to the Goodwill and am starting to feel less stuffed in here.

My Special Day
A few things were important to me - right person, right place, right time, and ...right photographer.
A few other elements as well:
- Spend time with close family and some friends
- Keep it simple and elegant
- Feel comfortable in the dress
It really was a wonderful day and I am truly blessed! I'm still waiting for pictures from the main photographer, but do have a few that friends and family took throughout the day.
I've decided not to put them out here in the blog world. Partially because the groom would like some privacy and partially because we share so much out here in the blog space that sometimes it is nice to have a bit of a secret. (-: Please comment here or email me if you'd like a link to the pictures.
And so opens a new chapter of my life - Yea! It's been a great time already!

Ode to the Duck Dishes
Ok, so "ode" is probably not the correct word, but I did want to make an entry specifically devoted to my duck dishes. I received these dishes from my parents in the Christmas of 1989. I was home for college (yes, I started college in the 80s) for Christmas and my gifts overwhelmed the lower layer of the Christmas tree. It turns out that most of my gifts were plates, cups, glasses, and bowls that formed a complete set. I think there was a set of silverware provided at the same time. I still have those too. Anyway, these are those dishes that you could earn by purchasing a lot of groceries over a few months or so. You would collect coupon points or something and get a discount. I think all "the girls" ended up getting a different set. Mine were the duck dishes. They aren't really my style (country). However, if one has to have a set of country dishes, this would be the best kind to have.
Anyway, my parents assumed I would get married in my early 2os and got these for me. I never used them through college, but I started to use them when I was in graduate school a few years ago and continued to do so when both my brothers (and sister-in-law) and roommates lived with me.I guess this was an "ode."
