Slacker Blogger

So, let's just get it out there. My mind is mush! I'm always tired and I can't get my house re-organized to save my life! The girl that used to wake up naturally at 5:30 a.m. every morning, now crawls out of bed around 7:00 or 7:30 a.m.

Ah well, it isn't all bad.

In a way I feel like a new mother - the house is a bit messy, my sleeping patterns are off, and I should be riding a bike 15 miles a day to get in shape, but I'm not. Plus, I just bit my lip and realize that I still have some face mask junk on my face that I put on over an hour ago that should really come off. I got some free little tube of this stuff and decided to use it - obviously not a normal "to do" of mine.

Anyway, life's been pretty good, except for that one check I bounced because now there are bills to pay for two people instead of one and I haven't yet figured out how to keep track of it all.

But, we are doing some fun and cheap things near home.

We went to DC the other night and walked around the National Mall. Got some fun pictures with my cheap camera (ugh - it is time to get a nice camera again) and felt the same love for DC that I felt the first time we went there as little kids on family trips.

Me making a mistake with my camera, but ending up with a cool photo

The Mall by night - which would be way cool if my camera actually worked in the dark

Luckily, there are still some wonderful flowers on the trees - not cherry blossoms, but in a way much better.

We took a little day trip to the Baltimore Inner Harbour - always fun to walk around the harbour and people watch. Never a dull moment.

Next time we are going to get a ticket for this fast boat!

Otherwise, most things are moving right along. Eating too much, not exercising enough and trying to simplify, simplify, and simplify.

Thanks to my friend Marti - we now have an awesome skillet to make pancakes! And, it is built to last a lifetime.

All in all - being a slacker blogger doesn't mean that I'm hiding bad stuff. Though 2009-2010 are two years I'd love to wipe off the calendar, 2011 is shaping up to be a pretty good year.

Hope it is for you too!

Blossoms

So, the cherry blossoms are mostly gone, but all of the other blossoms are out and it really has been a great spring with a few overcast days and rain, but really a whole lot of warmth and wonderful weather.

Luckily, my neigbhorhood has all kinds of wonderful trees in bloom and I now have someone to take pictures of me with them instead of all these weird self-portraits with distorted faces. (-: Yea!

Cherry Blossoms - now gone

Well, the cherry blossoms came and went. I went to the National Mall last night, but was too late. Darn it! I've managed to make it down there every other year.

This year, there were more tourists than flowers by the time I made it down to the tidal basin.

No good pictures this year, but here's one from years past. They are beautiful and a great gift to our country. Read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Cherry_Blossom_Festival

Cherry Blossoms

My neighborhood is beautiful right now with all of the different blossoming trees. It is that time of year!

This week the Cherry Blossom festival is in full swing in the DC area. I have been many times in the past, but I'm not sure if I'll be getting downtown this year.

Though this picture wasn't taken this year, I'm sure it will still be as beautiful as that time.

This evening I took an evening walk and got to see the flowers in the dark. It was absolutely beautiful with the moon peaking through the clouds and the wind whipping the cool air around me and the swaying trees.

Spring is almost here!
